Grains (Flaked or Rolled):
Flaked or rolled grains are made by tendering grains then heating up and running grain through a roller. The flaked (rolled) grains are then dried. Quick oats start with Steel Cut Oats instead of Oat Groats. Rolled or Flaked grains are used for hot cereal, granola, granola bars, and as a garnish on the top of a loaf of bread. By mixing cracked grain into the dough and liberally dropping flaked grains on top of the uncooked loaf and then baking it, you can create a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
